Roosje is a chartered architect, a graduate of Birmingham School of Architecture whose extensive career in the public sector encompassed a range of roles covering architecture, property and facilities management, with a constant aim of achieving design quality in public architecture. As a CABE regional representative she was responsible for promoting design excellence across the North East and through her presidency and membership of the Society of Chief Architects in Local Authorities (SCALA), she was involved in establishing the Civic Building of the Year awards and has been a member of the judging panel for 14 years.

Previously a committee member of the RIBA York and North Yorkshire Society of Architects, Roosje’s recent involvement with the RIBA has included working as Interim Regional Director for the North East, membership of the RIBA Schools of Architecture Validation panel, visiting schools of architecture both in the UK and abroad, and as a CPD Assessor.

Experience in the educational field includes four years acting as Professional Examiner at Oxford Brookes and Huddersfield Schools of Architecture, from 2017 as Professional Examiner at Bath School of Architecture and Roosje is currently a Professional Studies Advisor on the Part 3 course at the University of Nottingham.

Roosje also promotes the construction industry through her role as a Regional Monitor for the Considerate Constructors Scheme and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
