Applying for registration for the first time

This page is a resource for anyone who wants to register with us for the first time whether you hold UK, EU, US or international qualifications.

For those who hold an overseas qualification or a non-recognised UK qualification and are seeking to join the Architects Register. A revised Prescribed Examination is currently in development and will be operational from spring 2027. ARB is no longer offering the previous Part 1 and Part 2 Prescribed Examinations and applications for this exam has closed.

Please note that you should take time to read the documents relevant to maintaining registration which can be found via the links to the right.  These include the Architects Code of Conduct, information on professional indemnity insurance and what you will need to do in order to maintain registration. You need only read the Competency Standards Guidance if you are applying to register more than two years after having passed your Part 3, or if you have been away from the Register for more than two years.
