International Routes

Changes to legislation mean we have a new approach to how architects with non-UK qualifications can join our Register.

ARB is now able to enter into Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) and Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRAs) with other regulators around the world.

These changes will affect how some architects can apply to register and the pages below provide information about these new routes. We have also published some questions and answers which explain the work we are undertaking and the changes you can expect.

ARB is now participating in two agreements. One is with the USA and the other is with our counterparts in Australia and New Zealand. Further information on these agreements, including who is eligible to use them and how to apply through them, can be found in the links below.
