Abi Van Hoorebeek is a UK qualified, practicing architect. Over the last 20 years she has worked in a number of practices across a variety of sectors including residential, healthcare, leisure and education, worked with Historic and Listed buildings and within Conservation areas. She now runs her own small practice where she has designed conversions, extensions, refurbishments and new builds.

Abi maintains teaching links with several UK institutions, and has held teaching posts at the University of Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam University and Leicester School of Architecture where she is currently a Senior Lecturer. Abi’s teaching experience provides a good understanding of current architectural courses and structures; she teaches at parts 1, 2 & 3. She is a Professional Examiner for Part 3 courses in a range of UK institutions and is an External Examiner for the Nottingham Trent University Undergraduate Architecture, and Professional Certificate in Architecture programmes.

Her publications and research interests range from health care and professional practice to the cultural and anthropological interactions on collectives colonise spaces. She is a current member of the RIBA visiting Board for the schools validation process and has previously been a Non-Executive Director of RIBA Enterprises.
