Rejoining the Register

To rejoin the Register, you will need to complete an application via MyARB.

See below for more information about how to make your application.

I have been off the Register since September 2023 or earlier

If you have been off the Register since September 2023 or earlier, you may not yet have received your MyARB login details.

If so, please email info@arb.org.uk confirming your full name, date of birth and personal email address and we can issue your login credentials. The email address you supply must be personal to you and not a shared mailbox.

Information you will need to complete your application

Business address
Under the Architects Act 1997, we must record a business address for every architect in the the Architects register. This should be the address where you can usually be found during working hours. If you do not have a business address, you must supply an alternative (e.g., your home address) where you can usually be found during working hours. As the Register is a public document, your business address will always be made public.

Personal address
You must also provide a personal address for internal use only. This, may be the same as your business address, and it will not be made public.

Payment method
All relevant fees must be paid online via WorldPay using a credit or debit card. We accept MasterCard, Debit MasterCard, Visa Credit, Visa Debit, Visa Electron, Maestro, JCB, Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Name changes
If your name has changed since you were last on the Register, you must upload evidence (e.g., a marriage certificate or deed poll document).

Competency requirements

From 1 January 2026, if you’ve been off the Register for less than two years, the competency assurances you have to provide will depend on the reason that you left the Register.

  • Removal for non-payment of fees: you will need to provide a personal development plan unless you have recorded your CPD on MyARB or with RIBA.
  • Resignation from the Register: you will need to provide a personal development plan unless you have recorded your CPD on MyARB or with RIBA.

The personal development plan should set out what CPD you aim to complete before the end of the calendar year, and must include CPD for the two mandatory topics. You can read more about the mandatory topics here.

If you have been off the Register for more than two years, your application will be reviewed by the Competency Standards Group (CSG) under Rule 19 of the ARB’s General Rules.

You will need to provide:

  • A statement explaining your request to rejoin the Register
  • A summary of your current role
  • Evidence of CPD

The CSG will assess whether you have maintained your competence and may request further information if required. CSG reviews typically take 6–8 weeks. Additional details about the process are available on our website.

Saving and submitting your application

You do not need to complete the application in one session. Your progress will be saved automatically, allowing you to log out and return later. Your application will only be submitted once all sections are completed and your payment has been processed. Please note that fees for rejoining the Register will vary, depending on the timing of your application and the circumstances applying to any previous resignation or removal from the Register.
