Student Handbook

ARB has redesigned its student handbook to provide students and other interested parties with helpful information about a career in architecture.  It is available both in a virtual version and a pdf version.  The pdf version is helpful if there are sections that you would like to download.

The handbook is divided into three sections:

Part 1

This section has been designed for students who might be considering a career in architecture, or for anyone who is thinking about changing their career path.  It contains information about qualifications and training needed to become an architect, and how you can go about choosing appropriate courses.

Part 2

This second section is targeted at architectural students who are at the Part 1 or Part 2 stage of their architectural education.  It contains some helpful information, including some facts about practical experience and choosing a Part 3 course.

Part 3

This section is directed at architecture students who are about to embark on their Part 3 course or who are already studying for it.  As well as telling you about ARB registration requirements, it also gives some useful information about practising outside the UK, either in Europe or overseas.

Although the different sections of the handbook are targeted at different audiences, as a whole it is a useful reference point for anybody who is either interested in pursuing architecture as a career or who is already studying architecture.  We hope that the handbook covers all the aspects you might need or like to know about, but if you can’t find the information you’re looking for or you have any queries about the contents of the handbook, please get in touch with our Qualifications team by emailing qualifications@arb.org.uk
