Biography
Stephen is a chartered architect with over thirty years’ experience at a senior level in architectural practice and higher education. He studied Architecture at Liverpool University and completed further postgraduate studies in Management at Imperial College and Construction Law at Kings College, London. His professional practice experience included working with a range of professional, institutional, commercial, international clients on development projects and user-led strategic asset management consultancy in the United Kingdom and mainland Europe.
He is currently a professor of Architecture at the University of Westminster in London where he is Associate Head of College for External Relations responsible for industry engagement and international partnerships in Architecture, Urban Design and the digital and creative industries.
He lectures widely on professional practice nationally and internationally and is the author of the ‘Part 3 Handbook’ and ‘Professional Studies in Architecture’. He is co-author of ‘Fees: The Architects Guide’ which is due for publication in September 2020. He has also contributed to past and present reviews of architectural education.
A former member of the ARB Investigations Panel and Professional Conduct Committee he has an interest in dispute resolution and is an accredited mediator.
