Graeme Barker

ARB Examiner

Graeme is Deputy Head of Department at the University of Nottingham, and has established and now leads the University’s accredited Level 7 Architect Apprenticeship and Part 2 MArch Architecture with Collaborative Practice Research programmes. He leads the teaching of professional studies at Part 1 and Part 2 level, and is a regular Part 3 examiner for the Department. He also contributes to the teaching assessment of studio and technology modules with an emphasis on design for manufacture at MArch level.

Outside of the University he continues his professional career collaborating with an established architect led developer exploring new social housing concepts and funding structures for offsite projects.

As a fully qualified architect, he holds BArch and Diploma qualifications from the University of Nottingham. Before moving into academia in 2016 Graeme spent over 20 years building experience in national and more recently regional practice, where in his role as Associate Director he led large scale projects ranging from housing and offices to education and student accommodation. In practice his role also included maintenance of practice standards, specification and CDM compliance.
