The Architects Registration Board is in the process of collecting the annual retention fee, which is due on or by 31 December 2015.

The fee funds the regulator’s work, which involves acting in the public interest to set and maintain standards in the profession.  As a regulator, ARB is required by law to maintain an up-to-date Register to enable the public to make informed decisions, consequently those who do not pay on time must be removed for non-payment.  ARB are keen to limit, as far as is possible, removals for non-payment and have embarked on an email and social media campaign to inform architects of the up-coming deadline.

This year ARB has launched a new text reminder service.  All architects who have not paid toward the end of December 2015, and who have provided ARB with a mobile number, will receive a text alert.

Karen Holmes, the Registrar and Chief Executive said, ‘We are using various methods to ensure the profession are aware that the retention fee is due on or by 31 December 2015.  After each annual fee collection we undertake a review of registrants feedback about the collection, in 2015 many registrants told us that they did not receive reminder messages.  As a result we have introduced this new text reminder service which architects will be able to access quickly and easily.’
